They catered for and seated just short of 200 Griffith citizens, less fortunate than others in our community, treating those present to live entertainment throughout the afternoon, pony rides and a jumping castle for the kids, any amount of soft drinks and cold water, and then a delicious served hot roast meal, followed by sweets, tea and coffee.

Santa made a special appearance bearing sweets for the children, and a treat for each family.

What a fabulous afternoon, thoroughly enjoyed by all present. I take my hat off to you Carol, Greg and everyone who assisted on the day. A wonderful, generous Griffith community project.

Lets hope you are able to conduct the event again this year and thereafter.

We have to wonder about the reasonings of the bleeding heart do-gooder brigade. Don't they advocate pollution into the atmosphere as being the cause of climate change?

Yet we have a mayor of Sydney and Dr Phelps, the new member for Wentworth, (both greenies), quite happy to endorse tons of carbon emissions into the atmosphere on New Years Eve.

Imagine the millions of people inhaling such emissions on the night!

Now why didn't someone suggest we waive the New Years fireworks this year and spend the billion odd dollars on water for the farmers, or homeless on the streets or a new hospital (all real necessities).

The people would have jumped at this idea had they been given a chance. But no the carbon display must go on.

One has to wonder where were all the advocate voices (as usual) squeaking in general whenever the animals contribute their emissions. 

Time the Greens were silenced once and for all.

It appears incomprehensible that while the people in irrigation areas consistently elect Liberal and National party members to State and Federal Parliament, these same politicians introduced and maintain the Water Act 2007.

The Water Act is the worst legislation these people have ever suffered under.

National and Liberal Party politicians then follow up by insisting ad-nauseum that the subsequent Basin Plan “will be delivered in full and on time”, with part of this delivery being the pre-Christmas 2018 removal of an additional 450 gigalitres from agricultural use. It should be understood that there are great financial benefits for politicians being in government. In addition to the $165,000 plus expenses base pay, NSW State Government politicians are awarded various parliamentary ministries, secretariats and speakers’ roles, adding an additional $18,000 to $110,000 pa. plus expenses to their income. 

The unfortunate fact for people in irrigation areas is every political party needs to appeal to the voters in Newcastle, Sydney and Wollongong. These voters have no agricultural interests, and most of them incorrectly think the Water Act and Basin Plan are saving the Murray-Darling Basin.

They also elect 70 of the 93 Members of the Legislative Assembly while the people in the rest of the state elect 23. The people of the Riverina need to form a state separate from NSW.

There is no happy future for the people in the irrigation, forestry and associated industries while they are dominated by metropolitan politicians. Only as a separate state can the people of the Riverina enjoy a prosperous and bountiful future.
