The announcement was music to the ears of festival director Jack Stewart, who said the money would go a long way to attract festival goers to Griffith.
“The festival’s long-term goal is to grow Griffith’s profile as a major regional tourism hotspot and the NSW Government funding gives us the opportunity to do just that,” Mr Stewart said.
The windfall was announced by Member for Murray Austin Evans, who said it was a win for tourism in the area.
“I’m delighted this event has received NSW Government funding support,” Mr Evans said.
“Rewind in the Vines was very successful last year and it’s set to be another outstanding event this year.”
The funding is part of the state government’s 2019 Incubator Event Fund, which is designed to get fledgling projects off the ground.
Following the smash success of the festival’s inaugural launch in 2018, Griffith City Council mayor John Dal Broi said council was enthusiastically throwing its support behind the musical festival.
"This festival will be an asset to our community, increase overnight visitor stay and boost to our local economy."
"With such a generous array of entertainment this year, we trust that our community and the whole region will support this, as it is something our locals have been wanting for many years.”
The family-friendly festival, headlined by iconic Australian rock group The Angels, is set to be held on the lawns of the Miranda Winery in Griffith on March 23.
The Angels will be supported by live performances from Diesel, The Black Sorrows, Choirboys, Radiators and Pacific Avenue, with local bands Happy Avenue and Side Effect opening up the festivities.
There will be fun for all ages on offer, with a dedicated kid’s area hosting a jumping castle, face painting and more.
Hard copy tickets are available for purchase from the Griffith Visitor’s Centre.
