The Lions have been helping the community for years, and now they’re hoping the community will help them keep the club strong in 2019.
Over the next few weeks club president Jeff Gardner will be recruiting at the Griffith Central Shopping centre to help bolster the club’s flagging numbers.
“We are an aging club, so we need new membership to keep going,” Mr Gardner said.
“We’re still one of the biggest clubs in the area, but we want to keep it that way.”
Mr Gardner himself was scouted back in 2005 and has been an energetic Lion and an supporter of the community ever since.
For him, the Lions Club was a way to support his town and encourage others to get into the community spirit.
"It's a great way of meeting new friends, getting involved with community projects and helping out the community," Mr Gardner said.
“We’re all volunteers and we always give 100 per cent of all the money we raise back to the community - that's what we're all about."
For his third and final year as the club president Mr Gardner said he wants to make sure the Lions have a strong year heading into 2020.
Those interested in joining the pride can call Jeff Gardner on 0411 133 149 or email the secretary at secretary@griffithlionsclub.org.au
The club’s first board meeting of the year will be on January 15, followed by the first dinner meeting on January 22.
