Born at 9.35am weighing in around six pounds seven and 49cm long, baby Rook was the first child brought into the world at Griffith Base Hospital in 2019.

After a mammoth labour lasting since Friday, mum Candice Hunter was pleased to welcome her little boy on this auspicious day, in what would have always been a special moment.

“We were making jokes about having the first baby, and it happened,” Candice said.

Proud father Paul Rook already has high aspirations for his little bundle of joy, hoping he will end up playing for the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

Baby Rook has been welcomed by sister Everly, and has big brother Marley eagerly awaiting meeting his future footy buddy.

Grandparents Diane and Jim Rook were excited to meet their newest grandchild and were clearly doting on the bub contentedly sleeping the afternoon away.
