Police and NSW Rural Fire Service are urging residents to stay vigilant after a number of “suspicious” fires broke out over the weekend.

At 5am on December 29 police were called to a large grass fire at a property on Little Road across from Thorne Rd.
Police say they are investigating whether the fire was deliberately lit, and they are asking anyone with any information to contact Griffith Police or Crime Stoppers.
Another small grass fire broke out behind the Riverina Nursery on Mackay Avenue in Yoogali sometime between December 29 and December 30.
The owner of the nursery located a patch of grass that appeared to have been deliberately lit, but by the time he discovered it it had already extinguished itself.
Police are also treating this incident as suspicious, and they are asking anybody with information to come forward.
Police have also issued a weather warning and are urging residents stay vigilant as the temperatures rise.
The RFS have also been called out to a number of smaller fires over the past week, and MIA Inspector Jason Wall is asking people to be on the lookout.
“If anyone has any information they should call Crime Stoppers to forward on anything suspicious, and if they do see an unattended fire they should dial 000.”
