News of a $9785 grant for musical instruments was music to the ears of Griffith East Public School's P&C, who were instrumental in getting the grant.

They have been lobbying member for Murray Austin Evans for an instrument grant, and their Christmas wish came early when he announced the funding on Wednesday.
The school plans to buy several different types of instruments, and they will all made available for the schoolchildren.
P&C vice president Bronwyn Jones said securing the grant was a team effort.
"We've got a very active P&C and it's got a nice ethos about it," Ms Jones said.
"The school has a lot of sporting achievements, but now we can develop the creative arts side too."

The school's music teacher Rhys Thomas already has grand plans to make a junior band for coming year.
NSW Deputy Premier John Barilaro visited the school for the grant announcement, and he said the instruments would allow children from poorer families to learn an instrument.
"We want to remove the barriers that some families face which prevent them from participating in music lessons, which is why we are assisting the P&C Association to purchase new instruments for the school," Mr Barilaro said.
"Learning an instrument should not be determined by whether or not you can afford to access the equipment; by investing in new musical instruments the school can help kids gain confidence through performance and help expand their creative minds.
