After winning the toss and electing to bat, Griffith was able to make a strong start though Tom Bartter and Aditha Jayasuriya who were able to put on 44 runs for the opening partnership.
When Bartter (11) fell to the bowling of Samuel Smith, the Griffith side was still able to maintain the forward momentum with James Roche joined Jayasuriya out in the middle.
The pair put on 65 runs for the second wicket before Smith (4/37) returned to pick up the wicket of Jayasuriya (50), Kyle Bennett (0) and Oliver Bartter (6) before James Buchanan joined Roche and steered their side out of the slide.
The fifth-wicket partnership got their side to 176 before Buchanan (20) fell to the bowling Jacob Sykes (2/22), and Roche (60) was dismissed by Will Bingham (1/26).
Late runs from Angus Bartter (21) and Harry Rowston (13) saw the Griffith side eventually bowled out for a competitive 241 in 45.3 overs.
The Wagga side was able to make a good start in response with Luke Fellows and Jesse Dohl at the top of the order. The opening stand of 26 runs was eventually interrupted when Josh Smith was able to take a catch off his own bowling to dismiss Dohl (6).
Fellows looked to continue the Wagga side’s push towards victory before Angus Bartter picked up Jack Mattingly (4) and Fellows (42) however that would be the last of the wickets for quite a while for Griffith.
Over the course of the next 26 overs, Smith and Blake Walker took the game out of Griffith’s hands with a show of determination.
When Griffith was finally able to make a breakthrough when Roche was able to run out Smith (75) the damage had been done with the fourth wicket partnership putting on 154 runs to get Wagga to within sight of victory.
With 24 runs required for victory with 9.3 overs remaining, Walker (84*) was able to guide his side to victory with six wickets in hand and 6.1 overs remaining. Griffith now has a long wait for their next game when they take on South West on February 10.
