Leagues were able to make a good start as Raj Singh was able to take the wicket of Dean Catanzariti (4) before Harry Rowston and Brad Hornery lead a resurgence for the Hanwood side.
The pair were able to put on 28-run second wicket partnership before Singh (2/22) had his second of the game to send Rowston (4) back to the pavilion.
It was the middle order which really stood up for the Hanwood side as Hornery found a capable partner in Jamie Whitworth as the pair lift their team to 83 before Jimmy Binks picked up Whitworth (27) while Hornery (28) was run out the next ball.
The quick fall of wickets did little to effect Hanwood’s flow as captain Charlie Cunial, and Neil Geltch kept the scoreboard ticking over.
The pair put on 38 runs before Ryan Greenaway (1/18) dismissed Cunial (15) while Michael Cudmore (1/4) picked up Neil Geltch (28).
Isaac Campbell (14) was the only remaining Hanwood batsman to get a start as Binks closed out the innings with four wickets to see Hanwood finish on 163 after 46 overs.
Having 39 overs to chase the big total to secure an outright win, Leagues needed to make a good start, but after a 16-run opening stand, Charlie Cunial was able to pick up Leagues’ captain Logan Matheson (6).
Andrew Madden and Ryan Greenaway laid the platform for their side to launch from and give them a real chance of picking up the 12 points.
A shoulder injury to Hanwood’s Dean Catanzariti saw his side fielding with 10 players which made defending the total harder with Greenaway and Madden putting on 67 runs before Cunial (3/37) removed Madden (37) as he was caught behind by Geltch.
Leagues lost Binks (10) and Greenaway (34) in quick succession, but Connor Matheson and Liam Greenaway were able to get their side back on target.
The pair got their side to 145 before Matheson (26), and Ted Jones (0) fell in quick succession to Ben Rowston (2/34) and after struggling with dehydration Liam Greenaway (23 ret.) was forced from the field leaving it to Brad Moore (4*) and Cudmore (3*) to hit the winning runs with four wickets in hand with 2.3 overs remaining.
