The 36 hampers were received by representatives from the Saint Vincent de Paul Society’s care and support office.
Each of the hampers will be going to a Griffith family who would otherwise have to skip their Christmas dinner celebrations.
Pastoral care worker at Marian College Sue Hone, said the baskets all contain some basic Christmas decorations.
“Also a full range of non perishable food items, and drinks so that the recipients can have a Christmas meal celebration,” Mrs Hone said.
“There was one hamper put together by each home-room and three hampers were created by the Marian College staff members.
“One Year 7 home-room in particular that created two full hampers, it just shows their community spirit,” Mrs Hone said.
Yvonne Budd from the Saint Vincent de Paul’s care and support office said the hampers will be distributed to those families in Griffith who have already requested them from the care office.
According to Mrs Budd the lucky families will be receiving their hampers beginning on December 19.
Mrs Budd said the support office usually receives around 36 Christmas hampers every year.
However the presentation of the hampers during the Mass at Marian College “was wonderful and overwhelming.”
Attending the Mass were Sisters Of Mercy Trish Johnson and Theresa Foley.
