According to Meat and Livestock Australia’s National Livestock Reporting Service lamb quality continues to be very mixed, with some useful lines of finished supplementary fed lambs offered, along with the plainer types.
New-season lambs sold from $116 to $184/head. Light old lambs received from $117 to $130/head. Trade weights were firm to $3 easier, making from $133 to $161/head.
Heavy and extra heavy weight lambs were firm to a couple of dollars dearer. Heavy lambs sold from $173 to $194 and extra heavy weights made from $200 to $230/head.
Carcase prices averaged from 702c to 775c/kg cwt. Mutton numbers comprised mainly Merinos and quality was mixed. Merino and crossbred ewes sold from $100 to $150/head. Dorper ewes received from $90 to $124/head.
