The Demons lost only one game for the entire season and were able to wrap up the trophy with a 69-47 win over the West Wyalong Wildcats.
Coach Carolyn Snow paid credit to her side’s hard work.
“It was probably the best game we have played all season,” she said.
“The youth of our guard in combination with our experience in Belinda Weeks and Lauren Marshall just seemed to really click tonight.”
The sides went into the first break with nothing to separate them as they were locked at 11-all.
Griffith turned it on in the second quarter scoring 23 points to 13 with Abby Favell leading the way with nine points in the second period alone while Belinda Weeks and Meg Dal Broi chipped in with four points each to see the score at 34-24 at the main break.
The scoring was tighter in the third with Griffith holding a 12-point advantage before Griffith and West Wyalong both scored 11 points in the final term to see the Demons take the 69-47 victory.
The win was made even better for the Griffith girls knowing they were without two of the more experienced players.
“Kylie Pastro and Jess Hill both missed last night because they were away,” she said.
“The youth really stepped up in their absence. We had nine players at the game, and all nine players contributed.”
Snow was hopeful that this season was just the start of better things to come for the MIA League.
“I think it has been fantastic and everyone I have talked to thinks the same,” she said.
“It is a credit to Maddy Clyne from Leeton who did a great job in getting the competition up and running.
“Temora apparently want to get in for next season so things will just keep getting better and better.”
