The Griffith Demon’s men and women’s side will head into the decider for the 2018 MIA League season looking to make the most of the home court advantage.

Both sides will come up against West Wyalong, and both teams have been the form teams of the competition in both the men’s and women’s competition.
In the final regular season round both side knew their position in the grand final were all but assured when they took on Narrandera.
The women’s side was able to claim the minor premiership with a 57-35 win over the Knights thanks to a good performance from Abby Favell who posted 21 points while Alexa Hitchens was the top scorer for Narrandera with 10 points.
For the men’s side, they were safe from being overtaken by Leeton but were still able to keep up their good record this season with a high scoring 89-63 win over Narrandera.
Isaac Testoni continued his excellent season as he posted 18 points while Steve McCanna and Nathan Richards scored 16 points each to see their side secure second place.
West Wyalong will be heading into the final with confidence with the women’s side coming away with a 62-44 win over Leeton while in the men’s they finished their undefeated season with a 74-44 win over the Eagles.
Manager of the Demons men’s side, Beau Edwards, is under no illusion as to the difficulty they will face this weekend.
“We have only had trouble against West Wyalong,” he said.
“It is going to be a tough test. In the meetings earlier in the season we were missing a couple of players, but I think everyone will be available this weekend.”
Griffith has only played one game at home this season and will be hoping the crowd can help them across the line.
“Griffith always turns up for the big games,” he said.
“I think we had nearly 200-250 people at the opening round game against Leeton so hopefully we can get something like that.”
Edwards was pleased with how his side has come together at such a short amount of time.
“I think they have done really well to gel over such a short amount of time,” he said.
“We came together two weeks before the competition started and have grown into a good team.”
According to the manager, he feels it will come down to a battle on the boards but knows with the side West Wyalong possess that will be a tough ask.
The day’s action will get underway at West End Sports Stadium with the women’s game starting at 3pm with the men’s following at 5pm.
