The Leeton entry was the only division one winning entry across Australia in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 3816 on Monday 12 November 2018.
The Leeton grandmother has now won herself $1 million.
Despite being registered to a Players Club card, NSW Lotteries officials had been unable to contact the winner as her contact details were out of date and had to wait for her to come forward before claiming the prize.
When speaking with a NSW Lotteries official on Thursday afternoon to claim her prize, the winner confessed despite hearing the news a Leeton local had won, she simply didn’t believe it could be her.
“I’ve won a million dollars? Are you joking? Oh my god! Right before Christmas. What a good Christmas present!” she said to the official.
“My son came over yesterday and said ‘Mum have you checked your tickets? Someone in the area has won a million dollars’.
“I said ‘don’t be silly. It’s not me’.
“Today I checked my ticket and started having a heart attack. I had to calm myself down before I called you.
“I’m the happiest woman in the world at this moment I think.”

The grandmother said she had been playing the same birthday numbers for decades and has never missed a week of getting her ticket in.
When asked how she planned to spend her windfall she revealed her beloved children and grandchildren were at the top of her list.
“I’ll help my daughter and my grandkids, but I’ll help myself out and buy a new house – that’s the first thing on my list,” she said.
“Then I’ll help my daughter and spend a bit on the grandchildren – they’ll be getting good Christmas presents.”
The winning entry was purchased at Leeton Newsagency, 78 Pine Avenue.
Leeton Newsagency owner Matt Curry was excited for the winner.
“That’s just the best news,” he said.
“We are so thrilled a local to the area and a regular player has won.
“It’s just amazing. We wish them all the best with their win. We hope they enjoy it.”
