The Blacks rugby system is based disciplined team play with each player expected to do their bit and do their bit well.
For 12 of the 14 minutes of the game, the Blacks held the lead against the West Lions, one of the premier teams in ACTJRU competition however a handling error late in the match saw the Lions score a runaway try and come away with a 19-12 victory.

The irony in the loss was that the try was scored by Griffith’s Connor Higgins who was invited to play for the West Lions prior to the Blacks entering the tournament.
For the Blacks the stand out performers were from Bryn Francis, Sam Flood along with Brumbies representative players Aisea Teapeamuhu and Ollie Smyth.
