Classical guitarists, Slava and Leonard are counted among the finest musicians of their generation with a reputation across the globe for mesmerising audiences with the energy and virtuosity of their performances.
This exciting new concert embraces genres from classical to jazz and contemporary music from around the world.
Regarded as Australia’s finest classical guitar duo, The Grigoryan Brothers’ have a passion to expand their horizons through new arrangements, their own compositions and commissions. This ambition ignites their performance as the brothers take the classical guitar into bold new territory – where there are no boundaries, only new frontiers to cross.
Griffith Regional Manager Raina Savage said had been looking forward to this concert for a long time. “We are so excited to finally be able to present these incredible musicians to the Griffith community,” she said.
“For this performance The Grigoryan Brothers will be performing works from their latest album, which sees a return to classical repertoire. The album will include songs by composers such as Bach, Elgar, Dvorak, and Rachmaninoff all masterfully arranged by their father Edward.
“The program will also include other works highlighting Slava and Leonard’s diverse skills: their deep appreciation of a broad spectrum of musical styles that has resulted in many unexpected and exciting collaborations involving music, both written and improvised.”
Slava and Leonard are blessed with an uncanny ability to perform so seamlessly as a duo that they play and ‘breathe’ as one. The brothers have been performing solo and together since childhood, releasing seven albums together, and between them clocking up three ARIA awards and an incredible 23 ARIA Award nominations.
Their diverse repertoire and willingness to explore new territory has also taken them to more remote place - Brazil, South Africa, India and the Middle East, inspiring unique and wholly original collaborations. Combined with their classical training the result is a unique sound incorporating all these influences. It is not classical, not jazz, not world music - it is The Grigoryan Brothers.
The Grigoryan Brothers are at Griffith Regional Theatre on Saturday, 10 November at 7.30pm. Tickets are Adult $30, ($25 before 26 October), Concession $25, Members $20. Tickets can be purchased at the Box Office, or 6962 8444 or www.griffithregionaltheatre.com.au
