It’s been 30 years since Leo Franco Motors opened its doors and started serving the Griffith and surrounding communities.
Owner Leo Franco took over the existing dealership Russels and Auswilds, Holden and Nissan back in November of 1988.
The business itself has been around for 90 years.
With 10 years experience already under his belt, having worked with Holden dealer Preston Motors Essendon, Mr Franco made the move from Melbourne to Griffith straight away.
He lived at the Yambil Inn for two months.
His family followed in January 1989, allowing the children to finish their school year in Melbourne before the move.
“It’s a great town,” Mr Franco said.
The people and friendships we’ve retained since day one have been the highlights
- Leo Franco Motors Dealer Principal Leo Franco
A lot of customers have continued purchasing their cars from Leo Franco Motors.
In fact, Mr Franco said that the dealership had sold to three generations of families, since he took over the business.
“It’s the town that keeps you here. I’m very established,” he said.
“We’re in a rural situation, so when farmers do well, we do well.”
The dealership has sold Holden and Nissan vehicles since the very start.
Over the course of the past 30 years the dealership has sold more than 15,000 cars.
