Griffith batted first on a tricky batting surface and were given a very solid start by Angus Argent-Smith and Seamus Maley who put on 23 runs in the first 13 overs before both fell in quick succession.
The innings was given real momentum when Luke Cannon came to the crease.
He took full advantage of any loose balls and single handedly lifted the Griffith score to 98 before he was forced to retire on 50.
Griffith’s innings then slowed to a crawl as Wagga’s opening bowlers returned for a second spell and the local side finished on 7/104 after their 40 overs.
Wagga suffered an early set back when Christian Dall’est claimed their first wicket with the score on 7.
Wickets then fell at 32, 53 and 66 but then a solid partnership between Lucas Livio and Lincoln Lauder got Wagga over the line with 4 wickets down despite the enthusiastic efforts of the Griffith side.
Christian Dall’est, Tomas Goirigolzarri, Patrick Mickan and Matt Devery all picked up a wicket for Griffith.
Griffith will travel to Wagga on November 18 to take on the second of the two Wagga sides.
