Women’s football director Gary Lyons and head coach Mick Godbier announced the 24-player squad in the wake of a two-part open trial and also released their squads for the under 13s, under 15s and under 17s teams.
Both were very impressed with the quality on show and player turnout.
“We’ve got pretty close to 100 names down across those teams and there’s a really good representation there,” Lyons said.
“There was particularly strong interest in the under 15s age division and because of the quality in that particular group, I’d say at least six of those players could potentially go up into the under 17s.”
We’ve kept a bit of room so there’s still opportunities for players to take part in training and get involved.

“I think the support we had leading up to trials was really important and the girls were fantastic out there,” Godbier added.
“Seeing this happen and putting a squad was a major goal for me and everything’s looking good.”
Lyons made note of a healthy turnout from non-Wagga players, pointing to Griffith, Albury and South West Slopes as large providers.
“We had great interest from those two areas in the under 15s and under 17s and there’s been really strong NSW Country sides int hose divisions for the past few years,” he said.
“In the senior squad, we had some individuals make contact who had formerly played first grade in the Canberra competition and they just happened to be living in the area, so we’ll have some experience there too.
“Those players have been pretty excited that there’s an opportunity to be involved in that competition locally.”
The senior playing squad could yet see another influx of players with Lyons open to late comers.
“We’ve kept a bit of room so there’s still opportunities for players to take part in training and get involved,” he said.
“We haven’t nominated a first or reserve grade squad yet either so everyone will be training together for now.”
The squads are expected to begin training as soon as mid-November with trial matches and additional off-season sessions still in the works.
