Darlington Point’s Altina Wildlife Park is collaborating with Leeton’s Pages on Pine restaurant and Heritage Motor Inn to create the Leeton Safari.
It will mean visitors and tourists have the chance to see a wild rhino or a majestic lion without having to get a passport stamped.
The safari package includes two nights accommodation in Leeton, then dinner at the award winning French restaurant Pages on Pine before a tour of the Altina Wildlife Park.
“At the beginning of the year I was attending a Chamber of Commerce business breakfast meeting and just casually asked Wayne Bond from the Leeton Heritage motor in if he’d be interested in working with us and getting Altina on board for Leeton Safari type packages,” Mrs Pages said.
“There was no hesitation and Wayne was straight onto it. He got the ball rolling and directly got the go ahead from Gloria Altin from Altina.
“Within a few months the packages were designed, websites done and flyers designed.”
While the three businesses are already successful operating alone, the concept is designed to boost visitors and tourists to the region by offering something unique.

It’s something Altina Wildlife Park director Gloria Altin was enthusiastic about.
“Altina is proud to be working along side two incredible local businesses in offering the public this unique safari package – a first for this area,” Mrs Altin said.
Heritage Motor Inn owner Wayne Bond said it the Leeton Safari was an exciting concept.
“We are excited to partner with two of the best tourism operators in the Riverina,” Mr Bond said.
“We look forward to our guests being able to eat their lion’s share of food at Pages on Pine, look out across a savanna in the middle of the Riverina at Altina and stay in the comfort of a luxurious den with us here at the Leeton Heritage Motor Inn.”
On Saturday, November 3, the Leeton Safari will be officially launched at a dinner party at Pages on Pine. Chef Eric Pages has designed an African-inspired three-course menu with tickets are available from Pages on Pine.
