The trio attacked the man as he walked by Griffith Base Hospital around 3pm, police allege.
The man was approached by the group and after a conversation, one of the men punched the victim in the face, knocking him to the ground.
The other two men continued to hit him as he lay on the ground, watched on by the first attacker, who the victim alleges then stole his phone from his pocket.
After beating the man on the ground, the group are said to have continued walking down the street, who were doggedly pursued by the victim.
They then further struck him on the corner of Noorebar and Hyandra Street.
Bleeding heavily from cuts to his head and face, the victim walked around 300 metres home from the scene, and was taken to hospital a short time after.
The trio were last seen walking east on Noorebar Avenue, all of which are described as being Caucasian in appearance, aged between 18 to 24 years old.
Two of the men are approximately 180cm tall while the third is slightly shorter between 160cm and 175cm, possibly carrying a backpack.
If anyone witnessed any part of the incident, knows anything about the attacks or has any type of footage (mobile telephone/dash cam) they are urged to call Griffith Police Station on 6969 4299 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
