With Ben Leach and Logan Matheson both unavailable this weekend, it was a new look opening combination of the returning Brett Hazelman and Ryan Greenaway.
The opening pair made a good start to proceedings before Alex Flood (2/31) as able to find a way through the defences of Hazelman (13).
This brought Andrew Madden to the crease, and alongside Greenaway, the pair were able to keep the Panthers score ticking over before Greenaway (23) became Flood’s second victim of the day when he was caught by Damien Walker.
Once again the wicket did little to slow the momentum from the Leagues side as Jimmy Binks picked up from where Greenaway left off.
With Madden closing in on a milestone, Binks (20) fell to the bowling of Shane Hutchinson (3/17), but it was only a matter of time before Madden posted his fifty before he fell to the bowling of Rob Rand.
As Leagues pushed for quick runs late in the innings, Rand (4/17) and Hutchinson were able to roll through the remaining wickets with only Conor Edenden (9) and Raj Singh (6) troubling the scorers as the Panthers were bowled out for 163 off 38.2 overs.
Coro was looking to make a good start when Rob Rand and Dean Bennett strolled to the crease put Leagues captain Paul Plummer had other ideas as he dismissed Bennett (0) with the fourth ball of the innings.
Mitchell Williams-Hedges came to the crease, and along with his captain, Rob Rand looked to build the Coro innings after a tough start.
After laying the foundation for the innings, the introduction of Greenaway (3/25) into the attack saw Rand (20) walking back to the pavilion after he was trapped in front by the young pace bowler.
Andrew Potter (1) and Tim Rand (1) followed soon after before Lucas Conlan joined Williams-Hedges as they looked to get their side back on track.
When Conlan as knocked over by Plummer (3/25), another two quick wickets saw Coro in trouble once again with Jamie Bennett (0) and Jack Hutchinson (0) departing in quick succession.
Williams-Hedges (60) was able to get past the 50 mark before he was dismissed by Singh (2/29) which all but ended the Cougars chances of claiming victory.
Walker (17) added some late runs but once he fell to the bowling Binks (1/15) and Shane Hutchinson was caught behind off the bowling of Hazelman (1/20) the Cougars were all out for 140 to hand the Panthers a 23-run victory.
