Doug Curran has risen in the ranks to become Griffith’s new deputy mayor after the longstanding Dino Zappacosta was ousted from the position this week. The deputy mayoral vote at Tuesday night’s council meeting showed a clear swing towards Cr Curran, with a majority vote of seven to four vote in his favour.
VANDALS TARGET FLOOD VICTIMS
A Yenda couple who had their home destroyed in the floods has been dealt another crushing blow after they were targeted by vandals last week. They had their car keyed and the meter box ripped from the wall of their West Avenue house in what is just the latest in a long list of attacks over recent months.

The state final of the under-16s rugby union Wiburd Shield between Griffith High School and Tamworth's Farrer High School yesterday was marred by a fight which began on the field and was then carried on by spectators.

After more than 50 years of playing on grass and dirt, Griffith netballers can look forward to competing on a new surface. Griffith Netball Association is preparing to commence works on four $164,000 all-weather courts at Jubilee Oval.
