Otherwise known as Brandon ‘Greeny’ Goodwin and his family have been battling with extensive rehabilitation after being in an accident with a truck. He was on a motorbike.
“It makes you reevaluate everything,” Greeny said.
“I am incredibly lucky to still be here, to watch my kids grow up.”
With his partner Katie McDermott and two young sons, one two and a half the other six, Hotel Victoria will play host to an awesome night of raffles and entertainment – all generously supplied and donated by the community.
His 14 separate injuries included two open fractures to the right leg, a crushed right hand and a busted knee – both of which had to be completely reconstructed, two fractures to the spine which if had been one millimeter up it would have been even worse.
“He also had internal bleeding, which healed itself however it managed to stick to the intestine wall, so he ended up with a bowel obstruction, and had to go and have an emergency operation to have his bowel cut and joined back together,” Katie said.
“He also has some memory loss, so he can’t remember the accident which is a blessing in a way.”
In and out of hospital for months, his visits to physiotherapists, psychologists, specialists not to mention accommodation and time off work - the costs are far more than physical.

“Every doctor we see can not believe it, and say, ‘how are you here?’ He is very lucky to be alive.”
“We have a cousin who plays in the Soul Searchers band and they wanted to donate their time for Friday, so we thought if we are going to have a band we’ll see what else we can do,” Katie said.
“The community has just been great and my work has been fantastic – and everyone has just come together and donated awesome things for prizes.”
“The support has been unreal – I can hardly believe it,” Greeny said.
“Katie and the old man [Terry] have just bent over backwards to get this organised, I am so thankful to them and everyone who has helped out.”
