An Edon Street, Yoogali hairdressers was targeted when a four-wheel-drive ute smashed through the front window around 5am, Inspector John Wadsworth from Griffith police said.
“A Caucasian male was seen, wearing shorts and a hooded jumper, (and) a silver dual-cab utility with a molded tray, similar to an old Ford Ranger,” he said.
“It’s reversed into the big glass doors, (the man has) taken a small amount of money and driven off.
“Any ram raids are taken extremely seriously and anyone with information is urged to contact police.”
It is yet to be determined if the vehicle involved was stolen, however it is believed to be connected to a car fire in Collina soon after the attack.
Nearby residents were woken by the sounds of explosions shortly after 6am, with reports of smoke billowing in the distance.
Griffith NSW Fire and Rescue crews responded to a car fire behind homes in Clifton Boulevard around 6.12am.
Inquiries are continuing and anyone with information relating to the incidents can contact police by calling the Griffith station on 6969 4299 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
