The 20-year-old man was flashed by police on Middleton Avenue around 3.20am.
He refused to stop and continued driving into Heath Crescent before fleeing on foot.

He was charged with driving whilst disqualified, exceeding the speed limit, with possible charges after the results of the sobriety tests return.
Car fire

The fire also took out around 200 square meters of scrub-land.
The car has not been reported stolen or missing, and police believe it may have been used as a farm vehicle.
There were no number plates found.
Anyone with information should contact Griffith Police Station on 6969 4299 or Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
Fire along fence
At 4:03am on Sunday morning, Fire and Rescue crews were called to a fire near a railway line.
The fire had ignited in a large mound of grass clippings from a nearby residence.
Griffith’s station 311 said this incident serves as a timely reminder.
They encourage everyone to prepare their property for the upcoming fire season, by making sure lawn clippings are put in a safe place, being aware that the moisture in green grass can cause spontaneous combustion.
