Staff members were honoured with flowers and a cake in recognition for their hard work as part of Early Childhood Educators week. Students also recorded lovely messages, later compiled into a video for members of staff.
Activities were organised for students and a sausage sizzle followed. As well as recognising staff, the preschool chose to incorporate a farming dress up theme. Families were asked to donate to help out farmers in drought-affected areas of Australia.
Coleambally Preschool Director Vicki McIntosh said her job was one that made her feel excited to roll out of bed in the morning.
“No two days are ever the same. You come for the kids. We’re a great team here. It makes all the difference. Getting along well with your colleagues is a great incentives,” Ms McIntosh said.
“It was a day to celebrated across Australia. Our committee were kind enough to organise a fun kind of day for us and the kids. We were spoiled with some flowers and a gorgeous cake … We knew something was happening, but it was lovely to feel appreciated and acknowledged. It was really kind.”
The ‘Fiver for a Farmer’ initiative gives proceeds to Rural Aid and Drought Angels. Along for the ride on the day was Member for Murray Austin Evans, who dropped by to pay tribute to Coly’s educators, as well as to discuss future projects.
