RENOWNED Australian MC and producer Joelistics will be the musical headliner for the inaugural MY SKATE street party in Griffith this weekend.
A founding member of seminal hip hop act TZU and a solo artist in his own right, Joelistics - the MC performance name of Joel Ma - will not only top off the street party with a stomping set to bring MY SKATE to a close, he will also be hosting a songwriting workshop.
It is not often regional areas get the chance to learn from one of Australia’s best writers and music producers.
Joelistics is a rapper, writer, spoken word artist, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer and advocate for diversity, and is recognised as a unique voice in the Australian music scene.
As well as his work with TZU and as a respected solo artist, Joelistics’ music production and song co-writing skills have allowed him to work alongside a diverse range of performers, including Tim Rogers, Emma Donovan, Birdz, Mojo Juju, Hermitude, Dialectrix, Haiku Hands, Saatsuma, Wil Wagner (Smith Street Band), Omar Musa, Missy Higgins and Madonna.

“Pumped to play my first Joelistics gig in a bloody long time at My Skate festival in Griffith,” he wrote in one post.
“This is the first gig I've played in three years. I will be playing with a live band. This should be fun.”
The songwriting workshop will be held at 11am on Saturday, September 15. Cost is $10 per person and participants will need to register and book on the Griffith Regional Theatre website.
Aduny Takele from the Murrumbidgee Youth Xtreem Arts Festival committee said those taking part will get some hot tips on how to craft a killer track.
“There will also be heaps of great young local artists rocking out the party stage to keep the party going,” Aduny said.
Joelistics will headline the street party adjacent the skate park in Olympic Street on Saturday, September 15. There will be four support acts, including Ivy & Elle’s, the Lolohea Brothers and Ev3, who will kick things off from 2pm. Joelistics, accompanied by Birdz, will start his set at 5pm.
