Firefighters rushed to a house in Bilbul at about 1.30am on Wednesday, following calls a house was “fully engulfed in flames”.
Crews from neighbouring districts, including Yenda, Griffith, Hanwood and Leeton, worked in what was described as “atrocious” conditions, with the sub-zero temperatures cutting through to bone and freezing firefighters breathing apparatuses.
For three hours, crews from the Rural Fire Service and Fire and Rescue NSW laboured to extinguish the blaze.
While it was fortunate no one was inside, the building was entirely gutted.
Griffith police are investigating the cause of the fire.
