After years in remission, she discovered the cancer had returned in 2013. Just a few years later, life would throw another curve ball. 

“In 2016, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. When I was being treated for breast cancer they found it (non-hogdkins lymphoma) had come back again.” she said. 

Ms Mayadas said the support she’d received from cancer nurses and groups within Griffith and Wagga had been “marvellous”. 

“The breast cancer nurse was absolutely marvelous to me. Your head is all over the place. They come to your house, let you cry on their shoulder and tell you about the options and support you can get – with the family as well,” she said.

Griffith will come together to support cancer research later this week in celebration of Daffodil Day. 

Each year, funds raised go toward funding cancer research and support services like those Ms Mayadas engaged with. 

Stalls will available at Griffin Plaza, Griffith Central and the Banna Ave kiosk. Students from Marian Catholic College will also be selling Daffodil-related items across Yambil Street and Banna Ave.
