On Friday morning, the RSL Griffith Sub-branch and War Memorial Museum came together to raise a flag marking the beginnings of the 2018 Invictus Games.

Launched by Prince Harry in 2014, the Invictus Games celebrates the sporting achievements of the ‘unconquered’; injured veterans and service persons.
During the Games, they will take part in sporting events such as those in track and field, cycling, wheelchair basketball, indoor rowing, archery, and wheelchair rugby.
Senior vice president of the RSL Griffith Sub-branch Michael Borg helped to raise the flag outside the War Memorial Museum.
“The Invictus Games is part of rehabilitation – to get them back into normality,” Mr Borg said.
“It’s a great thing – it inspires comradeship, mateship, everything that military have.”
Mr Borg said those veterans who were able did a bridge climb, with the Invictus Games flag raised on Sydney Harbour Bridge, and will stay up until the closing ceremony on October 27.
Mr Borg said the flag raising at the Memorial was “our small part” in supporting Invictus.
“We’re hoping the flag will get noticed.”
He said they will also be sending a flag to Sydney.
“We hope the flag will be signed by the competitors of Australia, which we will then display at the Museum.”
