When Griffith High School student Moses Lolohea decided to upload some of his own music to Triple J’s unearthed page, it was all for a bit of fun.

He never imagined he might hear his own song on the radio.
A few months after uploading the song, Moses got an email out of the blue. He was beyond ecstatic when he got the news.
“I uploaded my stuff to the unearthed page for fun. Whatever happens, happens. One week I got an email from one of the Triple J hosts letting me know my song was going to get played,” he said.
They put it up on the Triple J pages. It was mad. I was going crazy. I was in a room with my cousin. I got that email and I was freaking out. I went to the car, turned on the radio and the song was playing.”
The Year 12 student has been making music in his room for around a year now.
“I make electronic and pop-type music. It’s modern day stuff my generation can relate to. I only just started producing my own stuff last year,” he said.

The Triple J project aims to “unearth” hidden talent on the Australian music scene. He’s also been played on Triple J radio.
Moses said he channels his own experiences into what he produces.
“I like to use life lessons. Whatever has been going on in my life, I like to put into music. I think it’s easier for people to relate to.”
Music has grown from a hobby to something he’s considered pursuing professionally.
“I was to pursue music. Besides footy, it’s one of the only things I’m good at. It’s what I like. I listen to music and play every day,” he said.
“Without music I think I’d be pretty lost.”
