The Toole family, who recently went to participate in a mammoth of a challenge, the City2Surf, has finished with all smiles and an eagerness to keep raising awareness of the suddenness of heart problems which affects so many people.

Janelle Toole, daughters Emma and Victoria, and son Edward all took part in the run which tests a person’s physical fitness, patience, and mental strength all for their chosen cause.
The Toole family’s charity was the Heart Foundation, chosen to honour Greg Toole, loving father and husband, brother, uncle and mate, who was struck down by a fatal heart attack.
The day was of special significance as well, being that it was Greg’s birthday.

“My husband passed away 12 and a half years ago from a sudden heart attack, and it would have been his birthday that day,” Mrs Toole said.
Mrs Toole, who has been running the City2Surf for the last eight years, was excited to get the whole family together in memory of Mr Toole.
“We had a great run.
“It’s a tough run, especially if you haven’t had a lot of training.”
She said as it was such a special day, the family was eager to take part in the event, and all “really enjoyed it.”
“Edward and I started off together then his young, long legs took off.
“He was the overall winner of the Toole family.”
Mrs Toole encourages people to give the City2Surf a go.
“I never thought I could do it, but a lot of people have inspired me.”
She said those who give it a go, despite having physical difficulties, inspire her the most.
“They’re out there running, and I think they’re more inspiring than those who are fit and able.
“We should acknowledge those who are doing their best.”
Mrs Toole said it’s important to find time for exercise, and not get caught up with the working life.
“We can all do something and we all should do something – it doesn’t have to be a City2Surf – it might just be taking that time to walk the dog or walk with the kids while they’re riding their bikes.”
She said they’ll be more fun runs in the future for the Toole family.
“It’s about participating with the family.”
Mrs Toole said she would like to promote the work of the Heart Foundation, which has helped so many people.
The Toole family has raised approximately $1400 for the Heart Foundation.
