IT WAS a monthly medal day at the Griffith Golf Club last Saturday with a field of 70 players in a single stroke with a meat voucher from the Hanwood Butchery up for grabs on the fourth hole.

Allan Murnane, 69 nett, won the A Grade medal, firing 78 off the stick, nailing a birdie on the ninth, ahead of Tony Catanzariti, 70 nett, carding 12 pars in a round of 78 off the stick.
Tony McBride, 69 nett, won the B Grade medal, canning a birdie on the first, in shooting 83. Dom Guglielmino, 73 nett, runner-up, carding four pars.
David Flood, 68 nett, best in C Grade, going around in 88 strokes with five pars, over Charlie Jones, 69 nett, three pars.
Pro Pins won by Steve Panazzolo and Sam Ranney. Par Threes: 4th Shane Gaffey, 7th Ken Alpen, 11th Martin Sweeney, 16th Tony McBride. Vouchers went to 75 nett.
A solid field of 43 players contested a single stableford last Sunday.
Steve Matheson, 37 points, won A grade from Col Vearing, 33 points, on a countback over Gerry Cox.
Jeff Wiscombe, 34 points, won B Grade, Ken Waide, 32 point,s second.
Geoff Cotterill with a hot 44 points won C Grade ahead of Geoff Simms, 36 points.
Sim Tuitivake won the 7th pin, Andy Arnold 11th. Vouchers to 30 points.
Geoff Cotterill also won the Nine Hole Comp on 24 points from John Wallace, 19 points on a countback. Vouchers to 18 points.
Twenty-two ladies also played in the nine hole comp., won by Dale Spence, 24 points, Robyn Barrington, 23 points second. Vouchers to 19 points.
Good news for golfers with Midwest Conveyors & Belting Services to sponsor the return of the Greenkeepers Revenge on Sunday, August 19 with a 10am shotgun start.
On the same weekend, on Saturday, the first round of the Handiskins will be played. Handiskins is played over five rounds, the last on November 17. The top ten scores will play off for the major prizes on Saturday, November 24. It is open to both men and ladies. If interested in playing, you must register prior to August 18 on griggolf@bigpond.net.au or the Pro Shop on 6962 3742.
Wednesdays and Sundays events this week are single stablefords with a Versus Par on Saturday.
The veterans event last Thursday was a Two BBB Aggregate won by Brad Fawcett and Skeet Milne with a combined score of 77 points. Ken Alpen and Graeme Trevett were second on 70 points, from John Evans and partner 69 points. Skeet Milne won the 7th pin, John Bortolazzo 11th.
Vouchers won by Mick Catanzariti and Joe Cudmore 67, Bill Brown and John Bortolazzo 64, Cec Spence & Brian Savage 63.
Thursdays event is a single stableford.
A two grade single stableford last Wednesday.
James Lethlean, 38 points, shooting two under par 69 won 0-18 ahead of James Browne, 37 points.
John Brennick, 39 points, won 19-36 on a countback over Don Catanzariti, 39 points.
Vouchers to 33 points.
