Mr Ferguson was there to run skill building sessions with students ahead of the Todd Woodbridge Cup next week.
Schools across the state will compete locally. The event is named for former Australian Tennis player Tod Woodbridge.
“It’s a modified game with smaller racquets and softer tennis balls. They’re going to be playing on Thursday,” Mr Ferguson said.
Grade three student Lily Malone said she was having a lot of fun in her first time trying out the sport.
“You get to hit it (the ball) to your friends and know that they can hit it back to you,” she said.
“I’ve been able to hit the ball about five times.”
Mr Ferguson said tennis had many benefits.
“It’s character building, team play and it develops personal skills. It also gives a game they can play for life.”
