The side managed to keep their opponents goalless for the entire game, coming away from the match 5-0. Artur Rattel stole the game in the forward half as the game’s lead goal scorer.
Coach Luke Santolin commended his side for the good game, but assured them there was still plenty to be done with final looming in the coming weeks.
“You’ve got to enjoy the wins, and the fact that we’re keeping a clean sheet, but I thought we could’ve played with a bit more purpose and a bit more conviction in the final third,” he said.
“When we played with purpose, we moved before the ball was even in their area. That’s the sort of team we want to be. That’s when we’re at our best, but it just felt a bit too forced – rather than coming naturally."
He said the next few games will determine which players are serious about the finals.
“I suppose what I want my players to know is that these games aren’t formalities. They’re a chance for us to build and they’re a chance for them to play their way either into the finals side squads or to play their way out of it. I don’t want anyone to coast. That’s what we’ll be looking for in the last two games of the season.”
Santolin named David Laird as his the match standout.
“He showed that he wants to be there. For me, I keep asking questions of him and he keeps answering them. I can’t fault him. He’s a standout.”
