Fresh off their lowest score of the season, 38 points in the win over Leeton, the Wagga side definitely made up for it against the Blacks at Conolly Rugby Complex.
In what is believed to be the largest total in Southern Inland history, Waratahs scored a 140-0 victory as the head into the finals series unbeaten.
The big score ensured they became the first team to crack 1000 points for the home and away season, finishing with 1085.
It’s an average of 77.5 a game and a scary statistic when you consider CSU only scored 187 for the season.
While pleased with his team’s second half performance, coach Richard Skellern wasn’t real happy with how his team started off the game.
Despite scoring 71 points in the first half, Skellern was far from pleased.
“Our first half was poor,” he Skellern said.
“We didn’t execute well.
“We scored points, but it isn’t about scoring points.
“In the first half we were good but we weren’t quite clinical.
“The second half was quite clinical, they executed well, everything they did came off and the supported and backed up each other and played some really good football.”
Fresh from his ACT schoolboys stint Corey Toole led the way on the scoreboard.
He crossed for four tries in the big win while Jake Eaglesham, Sam Bunny and Dan Selmes all scored three tries.
Xavier Chigwidden and Chris Murray bagged doubles while Tim Corcoran was named his team’s best.
Griffith finish the season in sixth place after losing five of their last six games including their last four.
The Blacks pushed Waratahs in the first round and despite having little to play for another a horror second half of the season Skellern was surprised by the scoreline.
“It certainly blew me away,” he said.
“I wasn’t expecting that scoreline against Griffith.
“We went out there and it was 32-29 at half-time so it’s unheard with them coming here.
“It’s a tough season for Griffith, I really feel for (coach) Craig (Morriss) and the boys out there.”
Waratahs now have the week off before tackling the winner of the semi-final against Leeton and Waratahs in the major semi-final.
The winner of that clash earns the rite to host the grand final on August 18.
