The North Wagga ruckman was a member of the Jets’ under 17 grand final team three years ago. His old club will host the Saints on Saturday, with an auction to follow.
Fletcher (who wore number 31) and Archer (number 11) were only too happy to support Hanlon’s recovery when they were contacted by the Jets, and will send signed Essendon and North Melbourne guernseys for the cause, in their famous numbers
The Jets will also auction a framed and signed Bombers jumper from the Daniher family. Originally for a major club fundraiser, the proceeds will now be shared with Hanlon’s trust fund.
The football community has been strong in its support of Hanlon, who has also played senior football with Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong. A number of clubs have held raffles and events to raise money to help the 20-year-old and his Weethalle family.
The Jets will hold their auction as soon as possible after their round 14 game at Ardlethan with players and supporters from the two clubs in attendance.
