Break and enters are plaguing Griffith businesses, however police say at this stage there is not enough information to connect them to the same perpetrators, or to tie them with break and enters in Leeton and Yenda throughout July.

Over the course of the month, police have had reports of seven break and enters in the MIA, with the possibility of more which haven’t been reported.
Director of Greengecko Joseph Taliano strongly urged other businesses to “be alert” after a break-in on Wednesday saw power tools and fuel stolen from their nursery.
“I just want other businesses to be aware that this is going on, and to take all precautions in securing their buildings,” Mr Taliano said.
“These thieves know what they are looking for… We are no longer the small town we used to be.”
District Inspector from Murrumbidgee Police District Kim Traynor said while there was a number of break and enters into business in Griffith, as well as one in Leeton at the start of the month, there was little to connect the instances at this stage.
“It would be difficult to connect these cases, as there has been different things reportedly stolen from premises, there is not enough to see a pattern at this stage,” Inspector Traynor said.
“We are urging any businesses to report any suspicious activity around their premises immediately.
“All these reported instances happened over night or during the hours of darkness, so be mindful in utilising all their security measures to minimise opportunities for thieves to target their premises.”
Since the start of July, there have been four reported break and enters in Griffith, one in Yenda and another in Leeton.

Tharbogan landfill had tools stolen overnight on July 7 and 8, a Railway Street business had a fire extinguisher stolen from a trailer in the fenced area of the property over night on July 10 and 11, and a Wakaden street business was targeted twice, once between July 10 and 11 and again on the night of the 13th, with coins and lighters allegedly taken.
Police also say a blue/silver Mitsubishi Triton twin cab utility was stolen from a Mackay Street business overnight on Wednesday, and is still outstanding.
An engineering company in Yenda had a number of industrial tools and equipment moved from the work shed to outside, but were not stolen.
It is possible the would-be thieves were coming back to collect them but were disturbed in the process.
Police are urging anyone with information relating to these incidents to call Griffith Police Station on 6969 4299.
