Perhaps we should all change tack and reconsider where our true loyalties lie by doing our shopping from our locals.
We have two butchers, Broomes Fruit and Vegies and Rossies all conveniently situated in Banna Avenue.
They have been serving our community for years. Sure, we may have to pay a little more for their products but the freshness and quality is there. The upside is the personal one to one service with a smile.
We are not hurried along in a queue like an assembly of sheep waiting to be fleeced as we are rushed through the giant supermarket checkouts at the speed of a bullet for the greed of the mighty dollar at the expense of real customer service.
Our locals will even deliver your purchases to your front door properly packed prior to their arrival for a reasonable fee if you live within their vicinity.
If, like me you don't drive and can't order in person you can phone through your order.
Our locals value our custom and they are deserving of it.
Just some food for thought as an alternative which not only helps us but also helps them to continue to stay afloat.
We need to get back some old fashion service which all these locals offer us free of charge.

Water amendments a knee jerk reaction
The July 2017 ABC 4Corners program “Pumped” held the NSW state government to account for a lack of water compliance and regulation, particularly in the north west of the state.
Now grave concerns surround the latest changes to the Water Management Act via the Water Management Amendment Bill 19/06/18.
Typically, we have the formation of yet another State government agency amongst a maze of existing regulators and these new amendments are too broad and very poorly defined.
NSW Government changes to regulations over the last three decades have severely impacted reliable access to water and also increased the risks and costs for producers and communities who live in areas susceptible to flooding.
These new powers, self-granted to the Water Minister, have given the State Government the right to snatch water access whenever they like… for ill defined ‘environmental purposes’.
They have also protected themselves against any damages to private or public property if ‘environmental flows’ cause flooding.
We need to remember that these amendments are a knee jerk reaction to city centric media from our current NSW State Government and current Water Minister, National Party Member Niall Blair. Ironically, they like to market themselves as the voice for regional Australia.
Places on the Murrumbidgee such as Collingullie and Darlington Point that will be left vulnerable if poor management decisions for environmental flows are made.
There will be no avenue for compensation from the State Government under these new amendments.
That’s simply not good enough.
