Installing traffic lights at the dangerous spot has gained strong support from members of the community and politicians alike.
Rosanne Bianchini, whose son Joseph had his life cut short at the intersection in 2003, said she wants to see things move forward sooner rather than later.
“They definitely need traffic lights to make it safer and to make it easier for traffic. It’ll be lovely to see it completed,” she said.
”The quicker it gets done, the better for everyone. To see something completed would be absolutely wonderful. That way everyone will feel safer going through the road.”
Residents have been encouraged to view and comment on the proposed changes.
The Options Assessment Report, released late last month, details four potential options for the intersection.
It suggests a roundabout, traffic lights, a staggered T-intersection to leave the intersection as is.
Yoogali Cafe owner Gae Chiappin said she’s seen a few accidents come through the intersection.
“They need to slow or stop the traffic driving in and out. Traffic lights would be ideal,” she said.
Member for Murray Austin Evans seems to agree.

“Installing traffic lights at the intersection would improve road user safety by minimising short stacking near the level crossing and would cater for all long vehicle movements,” Mr Evans said.
Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) will display the report for comment until July 20. It can be viewed at Griffith City Council offices.
