Hanwood FC One have withstood a second-half fightback from Hanwood FC Two to come away with a 4-2 win at Yellow Tail Park on Sunday afternoon.
After dominating the opening stages of the game but not being able to find the back of the net that was before Demetrio Torino took a shot from long range which sailed into the top corner.
Jordan Bellato was able to double his sides lead to see them go into the halftime break up 2-0. The message at halftime was simple from the Hanwood FC Two side who came out looking to be a lot more physical.
A good double save from Bryce Crawford kept the score at 2-0 before youngster Jeylan Gatto turned a Morgan Forster corner into his own net to see HFC Two get themselves right into the game but it was short-lived as Brad Clark gave HFC One back their two-goal advantage.
Hanwood Two used their long ball well from the kick off with Conor Edenden playing the ball out to Alan Lachmund who was able to get the ball into Zach Pisan to make it 3-2.
James Musolino finished the game off for Hanwood after he got on the end of a defensive clearance, ran around the keeper and steered the ball into the open net.
Hanwood FC One coach Jason Bertacco said the game was just what his side needed.
“Games like today are a great experience,” he said.
“The Two's really came at us in the second half, and that's what you want.”
“It had a little bit of a finals feel to it because the other boys are desperate to pick up points, so it was perfect for us really.
