The Griffith Blacks’ women’s rugby side had more success than its first-grade male counterparts as it had a convincing 46-0 win over local rivals the Phantoms at Jubilee Oval on Saturday afternoon.
The Blacks were quick out of the blocks with Ua Ravu scoring two tries in quick succession before Eliza Baddock scored the try of the day.
After causing a turnover with some hard work at the breakdown, from the following scrum 10 metres from their try line Baddock, who was at first receiver, spotted a gap to run the length of the field to score under the post.
The Blacks maintained their ascendancy after halftime to score another three tries with two coming from hard work at the break down to secure the bragging rights with a massive win.
The bonus-point win ensures the Griffith side maintains their one-point lead over the Wagga Waratahs at the top of the table with two rounds to go before finals.
The Blacks are at home again this weekend as they take on Tumut.
