The children decorated their own library bags using paints, and stencils of emus and hands.
After a few games of Simon Says, they then listed to two stories, The Rainbow Serpent by Dick Roughsey, and Dan’s Grandpa by Sally Morgan and illustrated by Bronwyn Bancroft, which was personally chosen by special guest Wiradjuri elder Veronica Collins.
The children were then invited to colour in some pictures of the rainbow serpent from the book, and pictures of Wiradjuri totem, the goanna.

Ms Collins said it is important to preserve the Wiradjuri culture and language, “so it will never die, and will always be passed down”.
When asked what she thought the children would get out of this week’s Storytime, Ms Collins said:
“I think they will get out of it a little sharing and caring.
“And, I’m going to enjoy myself today.”
Griffith City Library holds a Storytime each Friday at 11am.
