Fresh off a win against DPC, Griffith Coach Andrew Lavaka says the boys are in for a good challenge.
“We’re looking forward to another tough match against Yanco. Yanco are in pretty good form. It’ll be another good match this week,” he said.
“If we complete our sets this week and cut the errors out I think we’re in with a chance for the two points on the weekend.”
Griffith have four losses and four wins under their belt. The last time the sides met, Yanco Wamoon walked away with a 34-22 victory.
In other Group 20 news, third-placed Yenda will be looking to perfect the finer points of play when meet Hay.
Blue Healers coach Michael Mogliotti said he was pleased with the side’s recent performances.
“It’s been good to finish the first round strong. It puts us in a good spot going into the second round of the season,” he said.
“Our main goal is to keep Hay scoreless to improve our defence. They’ve copped a few losses this year but they’ve scored against every team. If we can keep them scoreless it would be a bonus.”
He said the side’s youngsters have fit right into the team dynamic.
“We had a couple of new players. They’ve fitted in and jelled straight away.”
