Councillor Paul Snaidero says he wants to make it clear Mayor Dal Broi’s views, in his opinion, do not necessarily reflect the views of individual councillors.
The move comes after rising tensions between Griffith City Council and Griffith Business Chamber over the latter’s submission to council’s 2018/19 draft budget.
“Council at no time resolved last week to tell the mayor to come out and tell the business chamber president to stand down,” Cr Snaidero said.
“This is the personal opinion of the mayor, not the mayor and by contingent the view of the council, in my view … He’s entitled to that opinion.”

The submission raises concerns with, among other things, Griffith’s housing crisis, as well as a perceived lack of consultation about spending on part of council.
Council addressed points made in the submission at its most recent meeting, saying it had undertaken a number of efforts to both properly consult with the community and to address all issues mentioned within the report.
Mayor Dal Broi said agreed he was entitled to hold his opinion.
“It is my opinion as mayor, and I have the right to my own opinion,” he said.
“I just feel Griffith City Council as a major sponsor of the business awards, then we get this tirade of criticism. I can only then deduct the leadership has got to take a good look at themselves,” he said.
“My objective is to grow Griffith and to provide employment. We’ve been successful at it. We’ve seen an enormous amount of money come into this electorate from state government.”
Cr Snaidero said he was of the view chamber raised “valid points” in their submission.
“The Business Chamber has raised some very valid points. The housing shortage has been on the agenda for a long time,” he said.
“It was raised some four years ago when council told us they had plenty of land.”
Mr Pierotti previously confirmed Business Chamber is currently in the process of filing complaints to Member for Murray Austin Evans and the Office of Local Government, who will also be provided a copy of the submission.
