Police have arrested a 27-year-old man after a lengthy foot pursuit in Leeton on Monday afternoon.

At around 1pm, police from Leeton and Griffith, Murrumbidgee Police District detectives and the Target Action Group and Traffic and Highway Patrol Command chased the man through an orange farm behind Gossamer Street, catching and arresting him at 2.30pm.
One police officer has been taken to hospital with a knee injury resulting from chase.
The man is currently in custody at Leeton Police Station and is being processed. Several charges will follow.
While police are hesitant to comment at this stage, Chief Inspector John Wadsworth said this arrest is “significant” in police efforts to combat property theft in the area.
“The arrest is a significant arrest and part of ongoing effort to reduce address property crime,” he said.
