On Thursday May 31, Royal Far West, Fairfax Media, and Charles Sturt University are hosting a town hall discussion about developmental vulnerability, and how we can work collaboratively to better support children and their families in Griffith.
Principal of St Patrick’s School Sandra Campbell is one of several panel members attending the meeting.
After recently commencing use of Royal Far West’s telecare services, she is looking forward to helping spread the word about the services available for those in need.
“I think there is stigma about having to access those and other services … but they are there to use and we need to figure out and do the best we possibly can to support our children.”
Other panelists include Professor Adrian Piccoli, Member for Murray Austin Evans, Royal Far West Director Katherine Burchfield and Griffith Pediatrician Dr Maxwell Hopp and Griffith parent Laura Cappello.
Royal Far West CEO Lindsay Cane said Royal Far West encourages everyone in the community to speak with the panel about what they are seeing and experiencing in their, the challenges they face in accessing supports for children and families, and what is working in Griffith.
“Following the Town Hall meetings, we will the work with local organisations to create a plan for change, lobby for more targeted funding, and work with each local community to build its capacity to support vulnerable families.”
