Station Commander Gavin Raccanello invited the public to the Fire + Rescue NSW (FRNSW) annual Open Day to meet with the firefighters at the station so they could learn not only about fire safety, but also about the people who put the blazes out.
Participants on the day got the chance to watch firefighting demonstrations, fire safety presentations, and go on station tours.
“This year we are reminding people about the wide range of our capabilities,” Mr Raccanello said of the day.
“From chemical spills, car accidents and natural disasters to education, prevention and humanitarian relief, across the state, across the country and even overseas, our firefighters are prepared for anything, anywhere, anytime,” he said.

Firefighters were also on-hand to give advice on using or installing smoke alarms, and how to prepare a fire escape plan for the home.
The Open Day wasn’t only educational, it was fun as well.
Children got to see the fire engines and all the firefighting equipment up close.
They also got to take home some goodies, including a “Brigade Kids” activity booklet about fire safety.
