The City of Adelaide will host a community working bee at Bonython Park on Saturday to build the structure, which will provide a nesting site for the bees, and plant native species.
Lord Mayor Martin Haese said a recent bee information night was attended by more than 150 people, demonstrating concern for the species.
"In urbanised environments, it is harder for bees to find suitable food plants and homes, which can lead to a decline in bee numbers,' he said.
"Building bee hotels can provide bees with nesting sites, but it is also important to plant a range of native flowering plants to provide them with food, and help increase their populations and flowering activities.
He encouraged residents to limit their use of pesticides and install their own artificial nests to help the bees.
The City of Adelaide is one of eight councils to partner with the Adelaide and Mount Lofty Ranges Natural Resources Management Board to deliver the project, with three native bee hotels to be installed in the Adelaide CBD.
