Little ones had their beanies and hoodies and even the older ones weren’t above layering up.
Despite the cold and rain, people didn’t let it put a dampener on what everyone had to offer.
Organiser and manager of the Riverina Field Days Roly Zappacosta said the turn out on Friday was surprising and pleasing, and is looking forward to everyone coming out in force on Saturday.
“There is a fair few people around, and a lot of farmers have come out today,” Mr Zappacosta said.
For families, it’s success in drawing the crowds is their desire to experience the family and children’s attractions, entertainment, food and unique demonstrations.
And for the farmers and mechanically oriented, they couldn’t miss the machinery and agricultural exhibitors.
The field days is the ideal opportunity to showcase the best farming practices and technology from across a wide range of industries.
“We have the Wilk’s Water auction today as well and that has really drawn the crowds,” Mr Zappacosta said.
Griffith residents Bruce and Mavis Coates were determined to see what was on display, touting determined expressions as they meandered their way through the Show Grounds.
“We came over here for a look to see whats happening,” Mr Coates said.
“It depends on the weather, but we would definitely like to come back tomorrow to see more.”
Tim Rennie from Leeda Ag said their stall saw the die-hards visit and look, but says there is always more promise in tomorrow.
“It would be nice to see more people come through, but tomorrow’s forecast is better so we will hold out for then,” Mr Rennie said.
